According to the dictionary, “percolate” means to run something (usually a liquid like coffee) through a filter. It can also mean to become lively or energetic, or — and it gives ideas specifically as an example — “to show activity, movement, or life”, to grow or expand. From the moment I woke up this morning, plot points and scenes in two of the books I’m working on have been percolating. It’s an apt word. I am energized by the expanding dynamic ideas. I am the porous filter these stories are percolating through.
